Jersey Central Power & Light (JCP&L) has activated its storm restoration plan, opened its Emergency Command Center, initiated the Incident Command System and is responding to power outages as a result of today’s storm.  The outages are occurring primarily in the Hunterdon, Morris, Sussex and Warren County areas of northern New Jersey where heavy wet snow has been falling.  JCP&L is currently reporting that 8 people on York and Clinton Street are without power. They currently do not have a response time due to the larger outages in Hunterdon County. If you lose power, please report it to JCP&L at 1-888-544-4877. JCP&L crews are working to restore customers as safely and quickly as possible, however weather and travel conditions remain difficult.

Company meteorologists continue to monitor the storm’s path as it moves across the region. Conditions vary across the JCP&L service area with winds and snow in northern New Jersey and winds and rain in central New Jersey.

Customers should report any downed wires to the company, or their local police and fire department and never go near a downed power line, even if they think it is no longer carrying electricity.  Extra caution should be used in areas where downed lines are tangled in trees or other debris.
