As you know, Lambertville faces dual threats from floods — localized flash floods caused by heavy rains, and the rising of the Delaware River due to higher water volumes generated upriver.

Heavy rains feeding into the Alexauken, Swan and Ely creeks can create immediate, localized flash floods. High water velocities, clogging of storm drains, stream bank erosion, and even stream bank failure have all been by-products of flooding from these waterways. Flooding also can occur when heavy rainfalls collect on the hills and rush into our neighborhoods, as was most recently evidenced during Tropical Storm Irene in 2011.

During the past several weeks numerous unlocked cars belonging to residents have been entered by person(s) unknown. Cash and personal property, such as wallets containing drivers’ licenses, other forms of identification and credit cards were stolen. In five cases, the vehicle keys were also left in the cars and the vehicle was stolen.

The City of Lambertville announced that it has forged an agreement with the Fair Share Housing Center, the leading state advocacy group for affordable housing, on a plan to meet its affordable housing obligations.  

We will begin the process of mailing out the 2018 Final/2019 Preliminary tax bills the first week of August. The August tax quarter/3rd quarter grace period is being extended to September 10th, 2018.
